Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to spread the inspired Word of God

At First Baptist Church of Lady Lake, the Holy Word of God – the Bible – is our guide for everything we do. We work to disciple Christians at all levels of knowledge and experience to prepare them to bring Glory to God through the testimony. If you have not been here recently, we urge you to plan a visit one Sunday and find a church where we are all part of God’s family.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)

What is a Church?

The church is God’s people and God’s Family. At First Baptist Church of Lady Lake, we never forget that each of us are part of God’s larger family. At First Baptist Church of Lady Lake EVERYTHING is done for the Glory of God: to see souls saved and to disciple those who are, for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20

Worshipful Music

We believe in upbeat and joyful music that glorifies our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Extensive focus is given to the Biblical message the music conveys, as it transitions believers from the daily distractions of the World to receive the Word. Preparing God’s chosen body of believers for worship and to receive the teaching of God’s Word.

“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” – Psalm 95:1

Practical Teaching

God doesn’t select those prepared, but prepares those that He selects. Each Sunday, through practical teaching of Biblical principles, our Pastor builds up the church and prepares the church to show Christ to the world through our lives daily.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” – 2 Peter 3:18

Prayer

Prayer is the heart of a Christians growth. Our prayer demonstrates our faith, belief and obedience to God.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – Philippians 4:6

SALVATION

Salvation is received when one repents toward God of the offenses he has committed against God, and, upon realization of his hopeless condition in and of himself, trusts Jesus Christ alone to save him from the personal payment for those sins, to satisfy the wrath of God upon those sins, and to make him fit for the kingdom of heaven.

EVIDENCE OF SALVATION

Salvation is given and received as a free gift. One who has trusted Christ as personal savior is the only one who can unselfishly live for God simply because he loves Him, and not to receive or to keep something. Any concept of the possibility of the loss of salvation infinitely lowers man’s privilege in Christ. The PERMANENCE of salvation is also taught in the symbols used of salvation, “born again, eternal life, never perish,” etc. and by the fact that the entire trinity is involved in keeping us saved. (John 10:28-30; Ephesians 1:13).

Our Beliefs & Values

This church accepts the Word of God as revealed in Old and New Testaments as the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and adopts the following as Fundamental Truths.

The Bible

The sixty-six books of the Bible are the total of all inscripturated revelation God has given to man. They were verbally inspired and without error of any kind. God has miraculously preserved His word to this day though no original manuscripts exist. (Revelation 22:18-19, II Timothy 3:15-16)

One True God

The sixty-six books of the Bible are the total of all inscripturated revelation God has given to man. They were verbally inspired and without error of any kind. God has miraculously preserved His word to this day though no original manuscripts exist. (Revelation 22:18-19, II Timothy 3:15-16)

Jesus Christ is God

He is eternal (Hebrews 13:8). He lived a sinless life (II Corinthians 5:21). He substituted Himself as the payment for our sins on the cross (Romans 5:8). He rose bodily from the grave (I Corinthians 15:12-20, John 20:26-29). He is exalted on the right hand of the Father (Acts 7:56). He will physically return for His people before the Tribulation Period (I Thessalonians 4:13-14). He will personally reign on the earth during the Millennium (Revelation 20:4-6).

God Created Mankind

Man was created by the direct act of God, in God’s image. Adam and Eve were historical people in a historical garden named Eden. Adam, by the free exercise of his will, sinned against God incurring both physical and spiritual death on himself, Eve, and all mankind. (Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 5:12)

Gifts of the Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit gives to all who are truly saved spiritual gifts. However, sign gifts such as tongues and faith healers, as well as Apostles and Prophets ended with the completion of the New Testament, and therefore are not for today. (I Corinthians 12 – 14)

Heaven and Hell

All mankind is traveling toward one of two eternal destinations. All who have their sins cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ by trusting Him as their personal savior have only one possible destination, heaven with God. This is sealed at the moment of salvation. All who die without having trusted Jesus Christ as their personal savior have only one possible destination, hell, separated from God. This is eternal and irreversible. There is no hope. (Revelation 20:11-15, Revelation 21, and Revelation 22)

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you believe about baptism?

The ordinance of Baptism in water is commanded in the Scriptures. All who repent and believe in Jesus Christ as personal savior are to be baptized; thus it is a step of obedience to identify the believer publicly with Christ. To be consistent with the symbol of the burial and resurrection of Christ, Baptism must be by immersion. (Matthew 3:16, 28:19-20; Acts 8:39)

Do you support missions?

Although we have each been called by our Lord Christ Jesus to spread the Gospel to “all the world,” we cannot personally go everywhere. That is why the church, together as a body of believers, committed and selected a particular set of missionaries to support financially.

What is an independent Baptist church?

We are an autonomous evangelical church and are not affiliated with any denomination. Major decisions regarding business matters are made by the church membership. As directed by the Bible, the church pastor makes and is held accountable by God for any doctrinal or pastoral decisions. Our pastor is Dr. Paul B. Harsh, II, D.Min.

Do you perform the Lord’s Supper?

The Lord’s Supper consists of two elements, bread and the fruit of the vine. It is to be observed until Jesus returns, is memorial of the sufferings and death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, and provides an occasion for personal assessment of one’s life and love toward Christ. (I Corinthians 11:23-30)

Do I have to be a member to participate?

Absolutely not! While there are a small number of ministries where we ask that you be a church member to participate, most activities and ministries of the church are open to everyone who attends.

I do not know if I am going to heaven or hell – can you help me?

We have many members, of all age, sex, race, who . We may even have some who are unsure like you are. That is why we work with everyone individually to help them understand what God has called them to do in order to accept the sacrifice Christ made on our behalf to bring us into fellowship with God so that we may have eternal life.
